Our service offers a Type B psychological therapy within a Primary Care setting. (The characteristic of Type B provision is that it is informed by more than one theoretical framework. It includes non-directive counselling and psychotherapeutic work using a wide range of techniques to address different facets of a patient’s problem. It is offered in the form of a series of set sessions following a clinical assessment, which will generate a therapeutic plan. The number of sessions will vary from a single assessment session, to a short-term engagement or to longer-term open-ended therapy usually on a weekly basis).
A Referral may be appropriate:
- When the person is over 18 years of age (consider referring to CLD Youth Counselling if aged 11-25 years).
- When referring people for short-term or open-ended psychological therapy.
- When the person can attend appointments weekly
- When people have some understanding that their problem/difficulty lies within themselves
- Not when the person is actively self-harming/suicidal, physically or psychologically dependent upon alcohol, substances or recreational drugs.
- Not when the person is actively psychotic.
- We do not provide specialist provision; for anger-management, alcohol or substance dependency
Fee Structure:
- Fees will be based on client income and will be discussed with the clients when they approach the service for an assessment appointment.
We will charge £35.00 per assessment which will be a pre-payment by the client to MCS Counselling Service |
